On the instructions of the Election Commission of India, work is being done in a phased manner at the level of State, District and Assembly constituency to ensure 100 percent participation in the electoral process of specially abled voters. In this connection, many arrangements are being made for the voters in the voting centers including ramps, wheel chair, and transport facilities.
In order to ensure participation in the electoral process of specially abled voters, the Divisional Commissioners has been nominated as an Accessibility Observer by the Election Commission of India. They will supervise the topics related to the identification of the voting of the voters, the entry of their names in the electoral roll and the facilities provided to them.
Volunteers remain for cooperation
Volunteers will be present to support the voters on all polling stations. Under the provisions of the Election Commission of India, the age of the volunteers will be less than 18 years. Candidates of National Service Scheme (NSS), Bharat Scout and Guide and National Cadet Corps (NCC) will form voluntary services as voluntary volunteers. Helpline number 1950 has been released to help the voters. The maximum number of this helpline number is being spread, so that people can become aware of its usage. Anyone can download Voter Helpline from Android Mobile's Google Play Store and iPhone.
Awareness being done under Sveep
Under Sveep, publicity material has been arranged in special camps, regional, simple language, sign language or Braille script for educating and motivating Specially abled voters. Voters guide, voter slip and dummy ballot paper will be made available in Braille for visually impaired voters. Specially trained people are deputed for deputing officers for monitoring facilities for specially abled voters. To perform all the works related to illiterate voters at the district level, the district level DMCAE (District Monitoring Committee on Accessible Election) and the ACCAE (Assembly on Accessible Election) has been formed at the level of the constituency.
Facilities for the Specially abled Persons
-In the polling centers, ramps, wheelchairs for voters, suitable lighting, separate drinking water, toilet and other facilities, including separate queue on the day of voting, will be provided.
- Free transportation will be made available to bring voters from the home to the polling station.
-Indicators will be placed on the path of the polling room along with the standard directive indicators along with the appropriate access path for the voting center.
- Distribution of voter Slip from house to house to specially abled person and the location of their polling station before voting.
- For visually impaired voters, EVMs will be provided in Braille script.
